We are a public school that is considered high poverty, slightly over 25% of the students have disabilities, over 65% are on free or reduced lunch, but I couldn't imagine teaching anywhere else. Currently, my 3rd grade language arts class consists of 18 students with an IEP for reading. I teach this class collaboratively with the special education teacher every day. It is a challenging group due to varying needs, both emotionally and academically, yet it is also very rewarding when we see progress being made.
