My students are a group of 26 5th grade intellectuals, who work tirelessly each day to prepare as they inch closer to Middle School. My students started out this year reading at an average of a third grade level. However, through hard work and voracious reading, they grew 1.2 grade levels in reading in the first six months of the school year. My students' big goal for this year has been to prepare themselves for Magnet Schools and Honors classes for next year, which has been their daily motivation. Our school in Nevada is Title I and is located in a high-poverty area. Almost 100% of our students are in the FRL (free or reduced lunch) program.
