Seldovia has generations of folks that have graduated, gone out into the world, and returned when they realized how great their kind community is and was. Grandparents and parents are raising kids here without the benefit of the logging enterprises of the past, and a decline in the fishing income that was previously possible. Lean times are most of the winter, with summer tourism providing more jobs to make it through the year. The declining school numbers after the decline of those community-sustaining industries have begun the curl to the upside with the slow influx of younger families seeking a safe community to raise their kids. The post-mistress will swap your 'Love' stamp for an American Flag stamp when you are sending in your taxes. The beautiful drawings by the daughter of the woman who runs the grocery store adorn the walls of the library and the space below the counter when you walk-in. Its a community.
