Special Gifts for Special kids. I teach special education for students with moderate and profound mental retardation. We are located in a self-contained classroom in a rural area. Currently,there are 5 students in the class with expected increase in numbers of students due to increased population in the area. Three students are in wheelchairs and 2 have poor fine and gross motor skills. The class is staffed by a teacher with 28 years experience in working with moderate and severe mentally disabled children and 3 assistants.
