We are an urban community school district that services children and families from a wide variety of economically challenged and working class families. We also service a large number of foster families and children, as well as children in the SPED community and others specific needs. My students are inquisitive, innovative, and ALWAYS seeking to make sense of the world around them. The Montessori classroom allows for the students to explore experiences across several new areas for early childhood learners like Geography, Practical Life, and Science (scientific exploration). We explore topics about different continents and their people, customs, national symbols, economics, architecture, clothing, and foods. We practice exposure to new interests that may not always be experienced within the home like other languages, world landmarks, and amazing food tastings from each continent. It’s wonderfully awesome!
