My school is an amazing space of learning, exploration, and love. In the middle of Washington, DC, our students attend school from 7:30am until 5pm. Our school has extended hours because our students have so much to learn and catch up on in order to be on grade level and excel beyond. Our public charter school's mission is to prepare our 4th-8th grade students with the academic, character and leadership skills to be able to compete in the area's most successful high schools. Our students and their families are dedicated to learning and success. In the 4th grade English Language Arts classroom in which I teach, we use differentiated instruction to meet our students at their diverse learning needs. We use learning centers daily to provide students with individualized and small group learning in order to push all of our students to the next level as readers and writers.
