My students are severely cognitively and emotionally disabled. They are 19-21 and read on a kindergarten - 3rd grade reading level. My students need support with navigating social situations as well as traveling independently. They are motivated by the use of a computer. They learn more readily and they comprehend more complex concepts due to their self motivation. They come from extremely low income neighborhoods struck with violence and gangs. Most of my students live in the projects of Brooklyn. The most positive thing in their life is school. They are loving hard working students that want a better future. They have difficulties with academics and love going to their job sites where they feel successful.
