Our students are from inland California and are often seeing the ocean and wild animals for the first time. Most of their families cannot afford to take them to the ocean or camping. They live in an area that is technically a desert. Sometimes they come from very urban areas that very few green areas. Children are naturally turned on by nature and are ready to learn science when it is hands-on like this.
