PreK students learn best through play. The items I propose to purchase will allow me to create at-home centers for each child in my classroom. COVID-19 has forced us to have virtual learning, and many of my students have limited materials at home. These at-home centers will allow my students to expand their learning beyond the screen and provide them with hands-on materials to continue learning beyond the virtual school day. The goal of PreK is to lay foundational skills needed for kindergarten, including color recognition, letter recognition, phonics, phonemic awareness, counting, number concepts, and science exploration. Young children learn the best through active play. These materials will be used by my students to reinforce and build mastery of PreK skills. Each child will receive a box of materials for a language center, math center, writing center, and science center. •Language center: Alphabet Learning Locks, Float Find Alphabet Bubbles, Magnetic Letters--students will develop language skills appropriate for pre-readers and needed for kindergarten •Math Center: Counting Cones--students will learn number recognition, counting, one-to-one correspondence •Writing Center: Writing Journal--students will begin to draw and write their ideas on paper, an important skill in the development of reading and writing •Science Center: My First Science Experiments--students will learn to observe, predict, compare, measure, and hypothesize about water and colors
