The Laptop computer is useful to students with disabilities because some of the applications are available for them easily. Most of my special education students in my class are mostly visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. They learn best when they visually see and hear the lesson. With the laptop computer it will allow more students to access the lesson since they can explore the guided lesson using the Apps independently. Interactive lessons are more meaningful to them because they are engaging. Because the laptop computer is a touch screen, for some of my students with poor fine-motor skills, the touch-screen design is easier to use than a desktop computer with a mouse or a laptop with a touchpad. The screen’s size makes the gadget user-friendly for students with vision problems as well. My students have challenges in understanding and retaining concepts especially in math and reading but with the use of different activities in math and reading using different Apps, students can practice their skills by assigning them with online activities and online assessment. Each child in my classroom wants to learn, they understand the importance of education, for them education will help them find a good job so that they can help support their families. In my class, we utilized a variety of learning strategies to address and cater the different learning styles and multiple intelligences of my students. Through these, their learning experience becomes meaningful to them. I am so lucky to have a group of students who acknowledge and embrace education as an important aspect of their lives.
