My middle school students have rich lives, with many stories to tell. Some come from countries on the other side of the globe, and have only been in the U.S. for a few years. Others have been living in the same urban city their whole lives and have never left their neighborhood. The majority of my students come from homes without the resources or financial support to help them reach their dreams. And our school makes due with resources that are embarrassingly outdated and underfunded.
