The majority of my students come from low-middle socioeconomic status. Our entire school is 100% free and reduced breakfast and lunches. Many of my students are being raised by grandparents, foster parents, other family members or single parent households and have little opportunities to experience life outside of the classroom like kids in surrounding districts do. They don’t get to go to zoo’s, the beach, a farm or even going to a movie is treat. They also don’t have books at home like a lot of other families do or like I did growing up. However, my students work just as hard as everyone one else despite what life has thrown their way and they want to learn all they can in order break the cycle of poverty in their families! They have big dreams to become doctors, lawyers, police officers, teachers, plumbers and more!
