I am a fifth grade teacher at a Title I school. This means that my 10 and 11 year old students come from some very challenging backgrounds. They have seen more in their few short years than I could imagine seeing in a lifetime. Many students come from single parent homes, with parents working 2 and 3 jobs. Students come from abusive homes, parents in prison, and some live in shelters or temporary housing.
