I am a special education teacher. The students that I teach range from having Mild Learning Disabilities to Moderate Intellectual Disabilities. My class is mainly made up of boys, but my small group of girls remain strong! I also teach in a large urban school district. The school that I teach at is a Title I school. In order to qualify as a Title I school, at least 50% of your students must be on free or reduced lunches. Our school currently has 73% of it's students on free or reduced lunches. Many of my students not only face academic challenges at school, but thier challenges often do not end with the completion of the school day. Many of my students face just as many challenges when they get home, in thier lives at home, and the communities that they live in. Although my students have many challenges, they are a great group of students, who love to learn. My students get so excited when they discover that they have learned and can do something new!
