Eighty percent of our student population qualifies for free and reduced lunch. The majority of our students are Hispanic. Many are learning English as a second language and are not read to at home. In order to encourage literacy and encourage reading for fun outside of the classroom, it is important that our collection stimulates their interest and imagination.
