My 27 exuberant third graders are kind, loving and hard working kids living in a rural agricultural community. The population is primarily lower to middle socio-economic status. We have migrant families and students who speak little to no English within our school district. We have exceptional parental and community involvement which makes our little town very special. Students are working toward building reading stamina this year as part of our literacy focus. They are excited about reaching their individual and classroom reading goals. You will see them engaged and enjoying their silent reading time. They especially love read alouds! During our reading time, students can be found spread out all over the classroom reading for enjoyment. The classroom is student-centered, cozy and comfy but more importantly, we have a mutual respect for each other. We talk about kindness, embrace our differences, and community.
