This is a class of Champions. They are 13 and 14 year old who want to stand out. They see injustice in the world and community and want to make a difference for those without a voice. These are the kids who have marched on the state capitol, participated in Spoken Word festivals and have the largest Gender/Sexuality Alliance group in the school district. Some of the kids are rich, most are middle class and quite a few are, or have been, homeless. They believe in their power to make the world a better place. This is a good thing considering the school they attend. While our mascot is a tiger, it should be an organic apple. Not flashy, not big, maybe even not outwardly beautiful, but the right thing to eat- both for the body and the environment. That is the style of the school where these kids are the leaders.
