Hurricane Laura and Delta have destroyed our schools, online availability, homes, and businesses. Most of my students have lost much weight and find it hard to participate in exercises and sports, let alone make it through the day without getting tired. Most don't even fit in their sports uniforms anymore: because their outfits are now too large. I find it hard to tailor the uniforms as some students have dropped two sizes during the many months they were away from school. During school closing, most of my students lived in hotels, waiting for their homes and apartments to be repaired. Some had no homes to return to. Their health has suffered, as a large part of our population has diabetes. They did not get healthy home-cooked dinners and only relied on fast-food when they were at hotels. To help my students start to gain some weight, I have requested healthy nourishment for my students such as cold drinks and energy bars.
