My dynamic group of students love learning about the world around them and how things work. Their constant "What if" questions keep me smiling and on my toes! My students love anything in science that is hands on and are disappointed when they do not have a chance to "try it", so to speak. In addition, many of the students at our school speak English as their second language. Being able to provide hands on practice and exploration beyond reading text is essential to these students' learning. Materials to reinforce the concepts behind the difficult language unlock the fifth grade curriculum for students who may otherwise fall quickly behind their peers in science.
