I have 20 students in my kindergarten classroom. They are bright, funny, eager, attentive, and very verbal. I have few discipline problems and overall have a great group of children this year! My school is a Title I school with over 83% of our students receiving free or reduced meals. Most of my students are African American and 1/4 of them are Hispanic. Most of our students live in our neighborhood and can walk to school but some students enroll on district transfers in order to attend accelerated classes. My students love to listen to stories as well as invent their own to share with their friends. We spend 1/2 of our day on our carpet and the other 1/2 working at our tables. We start each day with a morning greeting which is done sitting in a circle on our carpet, ring around the rug, time. During our morning greeting children have the opportunity to share with each other as they practice their listening and questioning skills. Note our "wacky socks" in our picture!
