My school is incredibly diverse. My class, in particular, enjoys being comprised of many cultures although usually of a lower socioeconomic level, many of whom live in gang-infested neighborhoods. I have students with learning disabilities and many who are visual learners, rather than just auditory. So they absolutely need visual guidance and experience to truly learn and succeed. They also need to be motivated to use their verbal skills in explaining their learning.
