My students come from a low income area. Most of them are living with one parent or guardian at home. They come to school hungry and tired from the night before. They arrive at my classroom at 7:15 to eat their breakfast before we get the day started at 7:45. Most take the bus to school or walk and all of them receive free lunch at school. Society tends to see their families as failures and as a result them too. I want to change that. I am teaching them not only their abcs and 123s but how to be a good persons and how to believe in themselves. As a class, we create a safe place in our classroom were the students can forget about their problems or troubles at home and focus on being the best student they can be. Most of my students are sad when it is Friday because they love school so much. Your donation helps me continue raising these students spirits through reading, writing, and increasing their self esteem.
