I am a brand new teacher from a rural, low-income area. I am looking for a few furniture pieces that could create more space and better opportunities in our classroom. I am also looking for hands-on engagement opportunities for my students. My school has a teacher desk shortage and I am using a massive wooden desk that is splintering. Because the desk is splintering, It causes harm to myself and the students. The desk is so large, it takes up a vast majority of the room causing difficulty of fluency when conducting grouped or centered work (which is my students preferred way of learning). I have also asked for an office chair because mine is not sturdy and causes disruptions when it decides to dump me on the floor. I have also requested a mini fridge for our class use. Statistics show students with a full belly learn better. Every Wednesday we have a guest speaker that comes during students lunch hour and those students oftentimes bring lunches that need to be kept cold. I have requested a storage laptop cart that will hold teaching materials, and double as a podium for engagement and lecturing purposes. The majority of my students are kinesthetic learners. They are currently displaying challenges in mathematics. I have requested 3 educational mathematics games; Tri-FACTa multiplication and division game, Multiplication and division Bingo, and Fraction Dominoes. My student will benefit from these games in that it creates an engaging kinesthetic way of learning. I would use these games during centers that students would rotate through while I am teaching students, one-o-one, who are struggling. Thank you for your consideration! My class and I are appreciative to have this opportunity.
