Due to the changes that have occurred in the education setting over the past couple of years, and the switching back and forth from remote to in-person learning, the last "normal" school year for my students was in fifth grade. This made the transition from elementary school to middle school more difficult than it normally is. To help my students navigate this transition, and work towards learning acceptable classroom behaviors, I have created an incentive system in my classroom. Students earn points for following the class expectations, helping others, and generally being kind. With these points, students are able to turn them in, in exchange for rewards of their choice on the classroom "store" cart. These rewards on my shopping list (snacks, toys, fidgets, and more) will provide the students more choices to choose from, and are specific items they have voiced interest in.
