Active sitting, also referred to as a continuous seated movement, relaxes the right side of your brain and results in improved focus. Finding the best balance between sitting and movement facilitates greater success in the classroom. Giving each student the option to select his/her favorite wiggle seat will improve participation resulting in better outcomes (in focus and attention as well as less disruptive behaviors). These items will help students keep themselves actively engaged during our class time. The ball chairs help with body and mental engagement. The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Right now we are writing on desks that have a brown finish and are hard to see. These new adjustable height tables would be a game-changer - easily displaying their work and making changes as new ideas come up in discussion. Students are much more willing to engage when I allow them to use their desks as whiteboards.
