I teach physical properties of matter. Students need to use equipment to discover these properties. Students also remember much easier if hands on learning is involved. The students would use the balance to find the mass of matter and compare the mass with the volume. The students would use the magnets to discover if an object is magnetic or not. They would also use the magnets to discover the north and south poles attract and the opposite poles repel. The students would work in groups to discover the properties of matter. They learn to cooperate with each other. The students also practice math skills when working with the balance.
