These books will be critical in allowing students to read and learn about WWII in a narrative manner. The books will allow for each student to have their own copy that they can check out and take home. This will alleviate some financial issues for families that cannot afford to buy copies of class novels. The Book Thief is a great way to combine ELA and Social Studies content in a meaningful way for these students. A core component of this class is to seamlessly combine English and Social Studies standards to create a holistic knowledge of the arts and humanities.
