I want to be able to have a full yoga unit for my students. I have already introduced it, but with a hardwood gym floor, we have been limited on what we have been able to do. I would love to have yoga mats for our students to be able to perform more of the poses and give them a full learning experience. Yoga has many health benefits, and at a time when we are seeing more students struggling with stress and anxiety, it is important to find positive outlets. Covid-19 has affected all of us, and you can see it in our kids. Yoga has been proven to build strength, help with balance, improve mental health, and reduce anxiety. This project can really make a difference by incorporating healthy routines to make our kids more active as well as manage their stress. I am planning on spending time doing a full unit with yoga, and then coming back to it throughout the year as my students need it. I will specifically be teaching yoga lessons with an emphasis on strength and balance, relaxation, flexibility, and full-body workouts. In the small amount we have done so far, I can already tell that the majority of my students leave the gym more relaxed and in a better mood!
