My students are amazing kindergarten, first and second grade scholars who love coming to school. I teach special education students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the CES Program (Communication Education Program ) in a title I school with 100% of students receiving free and reduced lunch. Students in my classroom have communication challenges; they are unable to express their wants and needs verbally. Because of their verbal communication challenges, they use PECs (Picture Exchange Communication) and communication device to enable them have functional communication. My students also need a lot of visuals ( pictures, objects) to ease understanding of academic tasks. Students in my classroom learn style are tactile, visual and auto-visual. Abstract concepts are one of the barriers for understanding academic concepts
