All students need the opportunity to learn in different ways. My students are very well versed in working with their hands. Therefore, I thought that learning about owls might be a great way to entice the students' attention using a storybook to introduce the unit. I had dissected owl pellets with 4th graders but, was cautious with K-3. They loved it! As a teacher, I was impressed with their determination in this project. They complete "owl booklets" as their ticket to participate in the project. All students were following directions, engaged, and wanted to have more similar activities. Hands-on projects similar to this will benefit these students in many aspects.
