The students will use the foam dice to create addition and subtraction sentences, to create options for place value charts, and to roll for counting games. The numbered dice can be used for matching numbers to items, for filling in place value charts, and for ordering from least to greatest amounts. Unifix cubes can be used to see increase in quantities and matched to show how numbers increase as the quantity increases. Students can build unifix towers to show different amounts and well as to show equal groups and groups that range from a lesser to greater amount. As the students gain knowledge they can use the place value blocks to represent numbers of greater amounts. They can visually see the grouping of 10 ones into a 10-stick, and 10 tens into a hundred block. The visualization and hands-on manipulation will greatly assist the students in their understanding of number sense.
