As an elementary School Counselor, I have observed an increasing need for support in the social/emotional domain as students are exhibiting more stress and anxiety than ever before. By equipping students with skills at an early age, they will build a strong foundation to help them through obstacles that life hands them as they learn and grow. Mindfulness and yoga are research based practices for supporting social/emotional health. I recently received my certification in children yoga instruction, and I plan to use this class set of yoga mats by teaching mindfulness and relaxation techniques during classroom guidance lessons for all students in our building. I will be able to equip all of our students with the ability to draw upon these skills when feeling stressed, unfocused, or overwhelmed. While it is imperative that we keep cleanliness at the forefront of what we do with our children, I have also requested the yoga mat cleaner to help with this. I truly appreciate your consideration to help fund this project! Our students will thank you too!
