During the shutdown, many students went home with library books. We lost over 1,000 books that were checked out by graduating seniors who weren't able to return the books before the end of the school year. We are struggling now to have enough books to check out to students for some of the high school standards, including Of Mice and Men, To Kill A Mockingbird, Macbeth, and Frankenstein. I'm having to tell teachers that "I'm sorry, but we don't have enough copies of that book for your students." So many kids are struggling to find copies of books they need for class, that in the past the library was able to provide. As the librarian tech, it breaks my heart to see so much of this year's budget going to replacement copies, instead of new books. As a direct result of this, I'm also having to tell students that the library doesn't have the recently published book they're looking for. We have a small budget, and I would be so grateful if someone could help me out, by donating some replacement copies for the class sets.
