Students in this class have asked specifically for this book, due to recent title popularity. They are excited at the prospect of reading it alongside The Odyssey, and I am excited to help them compare the perspectives of these two characters, and consider how Odysseus and Circe fit into the scheme of archetypal roles in fiction. Our goal this semester is to answer the question, "what is a hero?" and this novel will help give this group of Freshman students a fresh take on what it means to be good person in society, and consider that there is often more motivating our actions than is seen on the surface. Most importantly, the students asked for this book, and I want to give it to them! You can help us investigate content across various times and cultures with your donation.
