Virtual labs and learning have their place are helpful and useful at times. However, my students love to get out of their seats and touch something other than a keyboards or a mouse pads. Although we use chromebooks to receive, edit, and manipulate data, the actual handling and using real lab equipment will better prepare student for future career and work experiences. In my classroom students plan, create, explore, assess, and analyze phenomenon. They then record and present their findings to another student, team, or the entire class. Students critique each other's work, and offer suggestions how they could improve the set-up or data collection strategies. Often times students are then given an opportunity to refine their design and repeat the learning activity.
