My students will use the markers, color pencils, and other art supplies to create visual essays and poster projects, alternate book covers, and other creative assignments. These projects are important enrichment activities for the literature units and independent reading projects. Some of the projects are independent assignments, but other activities are opportunities for students to collaborate on projects that reflect the ideas and themes that they encounter in their reading. These projects give students an alternate modality for students to covey their understanding of of literature concepts. Students get a chance to use higher level thinking skills and be creative at the same time.
