Reading ability is a major determining factor of a student's success, not only in an educational setting, but also in a successful career, and in becoming a "Life Long Learner". The last three years have been difficult for all of us. Students have suffered many interruptions in classroom instructional days. Unfortunately, these interruptions have affected progress in reading for many of our students. I know what to do to help my students become excited, confident readers, but I need your help funding the books and white board chart for our small reading groups. I will be able to help Kindergarten, First, and Second Graders gain reading skills, abilities, confidence, and a love of reading and learning by teaching small groups of up to six students each. These groups will consist of students who share like skills and needs. By having multiple copies of the same reading level of books, each child in the group will be able to read the same book. We can read individually and as group. Students will also be able to take the books home to practice reading and share their progress with their families. Small reading groups will take place in my classroom during the school day and also during after school tutoring. I chose high interest books that students will enjoy and look forward to reading.
