One of the materials I am requesting is a Teacher Pay Teachers gift card. I utilize this website daily in my classroom because it has such engaging activities that can be used both in person and online! For example, we completed one of the activities that involved a mystery. The students solved proportions problems to see who was responsible for the mystery. If we are required to do virtual learning due to unforeseen circumstances , I will be able to have more resources to help students better understand their standards. With these online activities, I will be able to accommodate different learning styles for different learners. Whether we are in person or online.
The donation from Amazon that I am requesting will give the students added incentive to learn math. 6th and 7th grade students become more invested when they can win a prize. After teaching 6th grade for a while, I have noticed that the students become more engaged when they hear that candy or a prize could be won. These prizes will also benefit students who need something to help them focus. For example, I had prizes for the proportions of the mystery activity for the table who could discuss with each other, solve the problems, and explain to me why they thought the one person did it. The students were all working together and understanding our subject!
