Our classroom library needs a makeover! This year, my students and I have the privilege to pilot a new reading program at our school. We love the culturally responsive texts and the engaging activities, like blog writing. However, we don't have a classroom library that reflects their culture like the curriculum does. Our classroom library has an insufficient amount of books which limits their choices. It is my goal to provide my students with a classroom library that is inviting, safe, and reflective of who they are. The books chosen for our classroom library makeover are more reflective of the cultures in our classroom. These book will pair perfectly with our new culturally responsive ELA curriculum that the students love.
