Using microscopes during science class is much more fun and fosters learning better than watching videos online, or through virtual simulations. Microscopes will help teach biology by looking at plant and animal cells, parts of the human body such as hair and fingernails, and looking at small insects. Rocks and minerals can be viewed during Earth science. The list of objects to investigate is unending. To encourage learning for discouraged students, science needs to be captivating. As a student, one of my best memories of using a microscope was seeing over a hundred translucent baby spiders in an egg sac. I want to help my students create lasting memories of science being fun and interesting.
