As the end of the school year approaches, I want to help each of the 58 students I teach reach their full potential in math. The past couple years have been especially challenging as these students have had a lot of instructional time interrupted as the world has dealt with COVID. As the school year ends, I want to really enhance the math learning in my classroom in every way possible. I have the responsibility of teaching kids that come from many different backgrounds. Many are learning English as a second language. The materials I am seeking will help me to be able to check each student's understanding of different math concepts. The materials would benefit all my students and help the rest of the school year be a success. The materials I have requested will greatly benefit the math learning in my room. First of all, the white board markers will allow students to workout problems on their individual boards easily and this will show me each student's thinking so I can best help that individual student with his/her math learning. Second, a reliable set of headphones will allow the students to learn on their individualized computer math programs. They will have the ability to hear the story problems read to them which will greatly help them as many of them are still learning English. The current headphones we are using don't always work well and several are broken from too many years of use. Finally, the prize incentives will motivate my students and help them to really want to push themselves to learn all they can. The prizes will be given as students reach different levels of math success on their computer math programs and also with classroom lessons and projects.
