Energizing the brain is so important to the overall growth and development of my students. They really need practice with hands on materials to help them make connections during class. Have you ever visited a new city and felt confused about your bearings? After a few days you probably got a feel for the area. With young people trying to energize their brain is similar to being in a new city. Once these 1st graders get their hands on something new they have to get their bearings right and feel out the area. These manipulative will help them to connect and get their brain energized. They eventually become comfortable and proficient and able to handle the stimulation that is happening to their young minds. Overall, hands on manipulatives are always great activities for the young minds.
