Students pick states and have to create a whole presentation over the capital, state flowers, bird, monuments, state parks, etc.. With the books, I can make copies of the states and send them home with poster board and markers/colored pencils to create an awesome visual display of the work they do in the classroom. Students will then do the same with countries from around the world. Students will learn about rivers, oceans, landforms, maps and how they all work together! As they learn all about the states and countries, they will also learn how to map it all out and these projects are a way to get them creative and talking amongst each other. Geography can be fun and exciting!
