COVID-19 has been a challenging time for elementary students. Many young students do not fully understand the impact of the pandemic and why they cannot do some activities that they had been accustomed to doing. My Art Enrichment classes provide an outlet for 1st through 5th-grade elementary students and an activity for them to look forward to participating in--a return to normal activity! Unfortunately, when our school enters virtual learning, my classroom lacks the technical equipment necessary for me to record art lessons tailored to each grade level. Proper application of artistic techniques (such as drawing, shading, etc.) cannot be demonstrated using a mouse--these techniques need to be demonstrated using the actual tools students are using, such as crayons, colored pencils, markers, paint, etc. The Elmo Document Camera and Writing Board will enable me to demonstrate those artistic techniques to students using the same tools they are using. I will be able to record lessons and post them to students' LMS for completion at home. Furthermore, the Wacom Graphics Tablet will enable me to demonstrate more advanced art creation techniques and create authentic digitized learning experiences for students in each elementary grade in my school. Not only will the equipment revolutionize my virtual teaching, but it will also enable me to properly demonstrate techniques in the classroom environment.
