All of our strings students need a place to keep their instrument during the day (no lockers at school) to keep them safe and make the most of our music room space. They use the music room and all of the items end up on the floor in a designated area. I'm most concerned about the long term care of our basses and cellos as they do not have hard cases and are easily damaged lying on the floor. These instrument racks have a life span of 30-40 years. The should rests provide an essential foundation of good body posture for holding a viola or a violin on your shoulder. They are also an aid to make playing more comfortable which can be a deterrent to some.
