The flexible seating options, math resources, and supplies allow students to learn in ways that are best for them. The seating and materials allow me to provide learning opportunities that recognize the way each student learns. Not all students learn the same and we must account for this in the classroom. Flexible seating, when used appropriately, provides the goal of more intentional and deeper student learning because students learn where they feel most comfortable. By providing clear expectations and allowing students different ways to sit during instruction and independent work time, students take ownership of their learning. In middle school grades, math instructional supplies and manipulatives are fewer. I would like to incorporate the seating options and these resources into my sixth-grade math classroom as learning tools. Our students are beginning real-world algebra and these supplies help enhance their understanding and mastery.
