Students will be able to take lessons on bass guitar as part of the orchestra curriculum. This will expose students to a new genre of music and create more excitement to playing bass in the orchestra, and prepare students for jazz band. Students with special needs may have more success performing on a bass guitar than an upright bass. Adding this instrument to the strings curriculum will increase student practicing, accessibility to the instrument at home, and exposure to more diverse musical opportunities. My current curriculum will be expanded to include a unit on performing on the bass guitar.
