How do we separate one type of screen time from another? How do we instill value in the educational programs from the entertainment of video games and YouTube? This year more than any other, I see a great need for students to feel connected. We need more than computer work and worksheets to keep our young learners engaged. The foundational reading, writing, and math skills are vital to our student's success and interest in future learning. These supplies will add a large component of "hands-on" activities that will help them connect to the new skills we are learning. Most of my students lost learning opportunities during the pandemic which has put some years behind students from previous years. The more interactive we can be in our small group setting, the better recall they will have as we build on that learning. The variety of activities in my request also allows me to send home activities to strengthen skills that may need additional time to master.
