My math students are behind after missing school due to Covid-19 as well as distance learning with cell phones as calculators. I have enough graphing calculators to supply my Juniors in Algebra II but not enough for Sophomores in Geometry. This puts them at a disadvantage in taking the ACT. The Math section requires a rapid pace to be successful and time can't be wasted trying to familiarize oneself with calculator operations during a timed test. My project will allow students to use TI-84s rather than their cell phones on a daily basis. They will each be issued a calculator to use for the entire year, gaining familiarity with its operations in and out of the classroom, thus providing for test time to be focused on how to solve math problems rather than where functions are on a foreign calculator.
