Math manipulatives offer a way to speed up the learning process. They can be used simultaneously while teaching a lesson the traditional pencil and paper way. Since most of my students are SEVERAL grade levels behind in math, playing catch-up has become the norm in my classroom. I am having to re-teach the basics that are expected to be known already, which takes away from the little time I already have. These manipulatives will give my students the extra resource to understand math. It can help bring students to a new level. It may not help every student, but it will make math more enjoyable for all students.
